You Can’t Get Rich By Acting Rich

Who doesn’t love a great movie? Movies make you laugh, cry, and get excited about your own life. For many, movies are their best hope of changing their mindsets.

I love movies where a married couple has two kids, two nice cars, a home in upper suburbia, and can take vacations every year.

This magical couple has no worries in the world, as they can stroll into work as required, and money is not an issue.

Dividends vs. Military Retirement

The movies lie. These movies do more harm to our psyches than anything. We believe it’s natural to have a great marriage, well-disciplined kids, own a big house and drive nice cars.

However, all these things require productivity, hard work, and dedication. The average person believes that working every day as an employee will result in an upper-middle-class (rich) lifestyle.

Sadly, this is not the case. The American dream costs $5 million, and most people are not prepared to pay this steep of a price.

Since most of us do not know the path to obtain $5 Million, we get into debt trying to have these nice things.

3 Steps to Retire Entirely on Passive Income

Keeping up with the Joneses. If we all believe we can live in suburbia, then we must act like the suburban folks’ act.  Keeping up with the Joneses can be the most dangerous habit we build and prevent us from growing wealth.

Inside the suburbs, we “fake it until we make it.” This means we have to buy cars on credit and go on vacations we cannot afford.

We want people to believe that we are rich, so we play a role in our own movies. However, this movie will cost us a lot of money to produce, and nobody will pay to watch it.

Consider this fact. Over half of Americans cannot afford to pay for a $1,000 emergency. So, if most Americans don’t have $1,000 in their emergency fund, why do we see so many nice cars on the road?

4 Years of College vs. 4 Years of Content Creation

The answer is most of us prioritize “stuff” over anything else. Society, the media, and advertisements all lead us to believe we need these things to be happy

Starring in your own movie. But there is a way to write your manuscript. We can rewrite the narrative that you need the newest car and the biggest house.

It’s tough to record your movie because you’ll be going against the grain. You will lose friends along the way

Simply put, you will choose to form lasting relationships with people who “value people” above all else. You will dedicate yourself to your spouse, family, and friends.

You will find a true higher calling by adding value to the world and serving others. It’s not easy to accomplish these feats, but I am telling you that it’s possible.

Employment in the Metaverse

How true freedom looks. True freedom looks like having lots of zeros in your bank account. Even better, you know you will leave this money to your children.

For me, my freedom comes from owning three homes. I know my sons will always have a place to call their own. I don’t have to worry about the housing market for their generation.

True freedom comes from knowing my spouse can retire at age 45, and I’ll retire before age 48. I no longer worry about my son needing to become a CEO of a company. I am building a company that he can take over if he wishes.

What will make you free? What do you require to feel free? Does your car lead to this freedom? How about living in a massive home with an even more enormous mortgage payment?

Real Estate is the IDEAL: Income

You must ask yourself deep questions. Are you doing the things today that will lead to your freedom tomorrow?

Or are you trying to show today the things you can afford tomorrow? This statement means that you are building massive debt to look the part.

Debt-Free Society. I wrote a few books on how to join the Debt-Free Society. Becoming debt-free is a mindset first, actions second.

  1. Debt-Free Society: Beat Credit Card Debt
  2. Debt-Free Society: Beat Wedding Debt
  3. Debt-Free Society: Beat Student Loan Debt
  4. Debt-Free Society: Beat Automobile Card Debt

If you try to become debt-free without the correct mindset, you will stall along the way. Even if you pay off all your debt, you risk falling back into debt.

Create Content Daily

The Debt-Free Society mindset allows you to see the world for what the powers intended. The forces did not intend for us to be servants to our debt.

Buying nice cars and big homes are not supposed to be our purpose in life. The goal should be to learn and to give back this knowledge. That feedback loop helps everyone focus on things that better one another.

Becoming rich. Wanting to become rich is not an evil goal. Wishing to become rich to have nice things can lead to more significant issues.

I want to become rich to ensure I can help solve my family’s problems along the way. To become rich, I give back by reading books and writing everything I learn.

The In-Debt-ured Servant

I also am giving everything I write away for free on my blog. That’s what I can offer the world as payment for giving me such a great spouse, kids, and life.

What are you giving back? If you want to become wealthy, you’ll have to give. Giving doesn’t have to be money, but it has to be of value.

Time is something you can give by volunteering. Also, you can give your time by educating yourself in finance, business, and wealth-building—then helping others.

Conclusion. Everyone wants to be rich because that’s what the movies teach us. However, few can get past the art of acting rich.

To become rich, you will need to add value to this world. You need to add so much value that people WANT to give you their money.

Money is the exchange of value in its simplest form. The more people you serve, the more wealth you will accumulate.

Living Overseas on Passive Income

Working a job will not make you rich, especially if you use your paycheck to buy cars, houses, and vacations.

What value can you add to this world? If you don’t have something to give, read a book and become obsessed with growing a skillset.

Share your journey to learn a skill with the world—which will be your value add. This scenario is how I become a writer. If I can find a way to add value (unrelated to my day job), you can also. Good Luck!
