The world as we know it is changing. We are transitioning from the industrial revolution 9-to-5 mindset to a creativity & production-based society.

Soon, going to work and sitting in your cubicle will no longer net you a paycheck. You’ll have to produce an innovative product for your bosses to review—and it must add value to the company.

With this shift in mindset, it is time for us to strike out on our own in business and content creation. Please review the prior three articles in the Retire Rich, Retire Comfortable Series (part 1, part 2, part 3) to help you get up to speed. Let’s begin.

BUSINESS BASICS

Advertising helps you add mind share and awareness to your business. Content marketing helps build an audience. You’ll need to understand advertising and content marketing in this new world.

You’ll need to produce meaningful and valuable content when starting as a content creator. But how do you create meaningful content?

Your back catalog of work does two things 1) it shows your commitment to your project, and 2) it provides a massive resource for people to find and utilize. Your body of work will also make you rich.

You build an audience because you want a body of people to know, like, and trust you. From there, they will become raving fans supporting you into the future.

You can only build an audience if you add value consistently to them. You must fill a need in their life. If you listen closely, they will tell you what they need most.

Are you having a hard time coming up with your next podcast, painting, or book? Does creator’s block indeed exist? You probably need to refill your creative bucket by consuming content.

On my seven-day road trip, I thought about what royalties mean to my future. My books and blog will help me live a comfortable, exciting life in retirement.

On that same road trip, I wondered what automated business I would start in retirement. Maybe an Airbnb business or a food truck. There are too many ideas to consider, but my time will be the most decisive factor.

I will have a tremendous military pension in a few years, but it’s not enough to do what I desire. Having royalties coming in monthly will help me continue to save and invest throughout my later years.

Every business has a sales funnel. This concept brings a random person “from the street” and converts them into customers. Understanding your sales funnel is vital to selling products.

Finding your dream job requires the same effort and dedication as becoming a content creator. So why not just become a content creator or entrepreneur?

BUSINESS IDEAS

Blogging is tough, especially if you don’t know what kind of blog you intend to start. I help you understand the difference between a content and a commodity blog.

Do you have a green thumb? With inflation on the rise and a general lack of healthy organic food, maybe it’s time to turn your garden into a business.

I would love to play video games for passive income, especially Pokemon games. Once I retire, I may go down this route because it’s fun and challenging.

For anything you want to achieve in life, there are others a few steps behind you. It is worth recording your efforts so that you can add value to the future generation.

Airbnb rentals have supplanted Bed & Breakfast Inns—for now. I believe there is still a massive market for upscale Bed & Breakfasts Inns that cater to their clients. 

I started a blog for passive income. Two years in, I have made about $200. However, I understand that the money is coming, and more importantly, it changed my life.

If you are a foodie, you may want to consider starting a food truck business. It isn’t as complex as you think and can serve as a good stepping stone to opening a restaurant. 

If you love sports or having your kids in sports, consider starting your own sports league. However, you can fund your club with passive income from videos, courses, and tutorials. 

If you love to teach, start a tutoring business towards passive income. This means you will provide free guidance via YouTube and social media. When parents need detailed training for their children, they will call you first.

I absolutely adore blogging; YouTube, not so much. However, video is a necessary part of the interactive future. I review this series’s differences between YouTube and Blogging of all sizes.
