Struggle-Mania: 12 Reasons Why You Love Being Broke

Being broke, having no money, and living paycheck-to-paycheck must be an amazing experience! Why do I say this? Because so many people are making a choice to live this way.

That’s the only reason I see why people born in the land of opportunity (USA) live in poverty or below the middle class. Here we are in America and can’t afford to live in America—why is this happening in such a beautiful land?

The simple answer is “being broke is easy.” Yes, broke is a lifestyle choice that requires no additional effort, education, struggle, drama, politics, ass-kissing, late nights, or personal growth. I can simply choose to live on $40,000 to $60,000/year and say life sucks—what a great life.

Don’t worry; if you want to blame someone else for your misfortune, the world will allow you to wallow in your self-pity. Let’s look at the common excuses people use to explain their situation.

1) My parents did not have money. Yes, most peoples’ parents did not have money. Not only that, they knew nothing about money, finances, interest rates, or investing, so you started broke AND behind.

2) I don’t have an education. I don’t have a college degree, but I make more than most people with degrees. Self-education has greater importance in today’s workforce than a college degree. Books are your friends

3) I’m not smart. School gives us the impression that there is only one way to solve a problem or that only the teacher has the correct answer. However, in life, there are always multiple paths to a solution. If I can write and publish my own books, you can do anything in this world.

4) I’m not good at anything. Yes, if that’s your attitude, I agree. You are only as good as your belief system. If you suck, then, well, you suck. However, if you want to transition to a growth mindset, you’ll have a high chance of success in many endeavors.

5) I’m a woman. If you believe the world is against you because of your gender, have fun with that. Anyone can make money inside their home, from their computer. No gender basis required. Start a business and start investing, and your life will change quickly.

6) I’m black. Good, I am too. I don’t buy into the hype of waiting for someone to take care of me. I am seizing every opportunity God throws my way. I lived in West Africa for over a year, and I can say that we have more chances for success in America. If you believe that I’m wrong, please visit the country of Niger.

7) My spouse holds me back. Sure. Your spouse is holding you back because you don’t have a clear intention or goal. You bounce from task to task, job to job. They don’t want you to spend $15,000 on a business that you’ll quit in six months. No, if you do the work, your spouse wants you to succeed. It’s in their best interest and yours’ If not, you are with the wrong person

8) My job doesn’t pay enough. That’s funny; I thought there were 24 hours in a day. You work for eight hours and sleep for eight. Using my simple math skills—that leaves another eight hours to put in more work. You can work another job, start a home business, create content, or build a dividend portfolio

9) I struggle with mental health. Mental health issues are real, but you also have to take personal accountability. I have been in the Marines for 23 years; I know all about mental health issues. However, you can overcome many problems when you have a higher purpose. We can work with a provider for the other issues. But if your mental health defines you, then IT WILL be you.

10) I don’t know where to start to become un-broke. Good, at least you are taking personal accountability. An excellent place to start is learning about your relationship with money. Two books that can help you are “Know Yourself, Know Your Money” and “Effortless Money.

11) The media says it’s not my fault. Do you think the media wants you scared and watching the news three hours a day or investing in dividends and creating content? How does the news make its money? What sells better fear and injustice or taking personal accountability, saving, and living below your means? Follow the money!

12) I want to spend time with my family. Okay, that’s a cop-out. Watching Netflix and playing games with your kids does nothing for them. Conversely, helping pay for their wedding, save for a down payment, or paying for private school for your grandkids helps them truly. You need money for all these things, so working hard and investing early in your children’s lives is much more valuable than “family time.” It sounds harsh, but if you send your kids out to acquire debt and become in-debt-ured servants, you fail them.

Where do you fall? You probably fall into many of these categories. I could quickly put myself into the “I’m a black, family person, media watcher, oppressed” category. But that would be bullshit.

Nobody oppressed me. The powers that be gave me the most incredible opportunity in this world. When we married, my wife and I started with zero dollars in 2006.

Today, in 2022, we own three homes, have a business, have $200,000 in a dividend portfolio, and have two great kids. So, in 16 years, we completely changed the fortune of our bloodline from poor to wealthy. And I am only 41 years old.

Did I mention that my wife is from the struggling country of Turkmenistan, and she spoke no English when we met in 2004? So, again, what are your excuses? Why are you still broke?

Do the math. You were born in America; your parents probably take care of themselves. Thus, really all you have to do is provide for yourself and your family. How much time do you spend watching the news, gossiping, drinking, or doing drugs?

What Type of Home Business Should You Start 5: Consulting

Is taking prescription drugs that vital to you? Do you want to stay at your $60,000/year job for the next 30 years? Is social security the best you can do over 45 years in the workforce?

No more excuses. I became a personal finance writer because reading about money changed my life and forever changed my family’s fortune. Now, it’s my time to pay it back to the universe.

But I can’t help people with excuses. If I say start writing books, and you say, “ I can’t write,” then there is nothing I can do to help. If I say invest in USDC, and you say, “I’m scared,” then there is nothing I can do to help.

If this article offended you—good. That means you are using one or more of these excuses. If you want the life you dream of, it starts with taking personal accountability. It’s not your skin color, family background, or gender holding you back—it’s your mindset
