Everywhere I look, it seems people are quitting their jobs. Whether it is quitting in place, also known as quiet quitting, or walking away completely (the Great Resignation), the world is turning upside down.
However, this is a social media ploy to slow down the average American. Many reasons contribute to this mass exodus from the workforce, so I want to identify what I have seen today.
My goal for this article is for YOU to determine why YOU are NOT in the workforce. I don’t care about the larger populace; I care only about you. Let’s begin.
The Magic of Having (Budgeted) Fun
It starts with parents and childhood. The first stop along the way is with your parents and your youth. Your parents told you that you were special, right?
Later in life, let’s say age 20-26, you realize that you are not special compared to everyone else. We all have unique qualities that make us stand out; however, we must put those traits to use to build success.
The only way to remain special is to build and grow. This can be climbing the corporate ladder, starting a family, homeschooling your kids, or starting a YouTube channel. No matter what, you will have to start at the bottom.
The bottom is where you start. No matter how much education you obtain, you will begin at the bottom somewhere.
What is Your Creative Ability?
I didn’t join the Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sergeant (E-9) with 23 years of experience. I started as a Recruit (E-1) who knew nothing about the military.
Over the years, I had to continue to learn new skills to keep my promotions on track. It was tough never to get complacent or lazy. I had to keep grinding until I achieved my final rank.
Then once I succeeded in the Marine Corps, I started a blog and book business and started from the bottom all over again.
Society used to do an excellent job at telling people that you must earn your keep. We used to say things like “There is no free lunch” or “There’s no substitute for hard work.” Here are some more awesome quotes.
Life as an Income Investor
Society flipped the script. As people succeed in the workforce, they realize work isn’t everything. You will need family, friends, a purpose, and goals to keep you going through the end of life.
Somehow, this “higher mindset” trickled down to the latest generation of workers. Today, you hear things like, “I want my job to make me happy” or “I want to make a difference.”
This is all garbage, complete and utter garbage. Do not buy into this bologna. I consider myself enlightened; I worked my butt off to climb the corporate ladder.
Move Past the Middle Class
Once I hit the top, I didn’t find my needed answers. So I decided to build a business while keeping my family together. Now, I can see the truth of where I belong in this world.
However, that doesn’t negate the years of hard work. The work is an essential part of my final enlightenment. I couldn’t find the answer without finishing the quest.
Don’t buy into the propaganda. I would never tell a young person not to grind at their job. I advocate working smarter—saving and investing to buy your freedom.
What you do for work doesn’t matter as much as we believe. Sure, we want to be in a good environment with motivated, respectful people; however, that’s not always the case.
Down-Sized? Time to Start an Online Business
The goal of being in the workforce is to extract as much money out of it as you can. With these resources, you can build a passive income portfolio such as rental properties, dividends, bonds, and businesses.
Then, and only then, can we look to do our true calling. You must keep the lights on (pay the bills) until you have enough passive income to cover all your expenses.
Your parents don’t have the answer. Our parents do not have the answer. If our parents knew of passive income, they wouldn’t send us to the world without the “information.”
You are not working because you want to live like you have passive income. You want money coming in while you sleep and to be free to do as you wish.
I’m Obsessed with Money: And You Should Be Too
Unfortunately, it requires a great deal of work to build passive income. Creating a portfolio of passive income is daunting, and most people fail.
You must dig yourself out of your rut, find a job, and start building your portfolio as soon as possible. Eventually, you will learn that you will speed up the process by controlling the outcomes—we call this becoming an insider.
You can create content, start an online business, or open your home to renters; this accelerates the growth of your portfolio and the speed at which you can exit the workforce.
Step-by-step guide. So you are lost in the world. You don’t know how to get going in the right direction. Let me ask you a few questions.
- What are your job skills? If you have none, become a manager at McDonald’s. They have a great corporate structure where you can grow to the regional manager or beyond.
- What do you do in your off time? If you say play video games or watch Tik Tok, you need to delete these things from your life until further notice.
- What type of passive income appeals to you? Do you want to own multiple rental properties, become an Airbnb host, invest in dividends, start a blog, or create a vending machine or arcade business?
Ultimately, your passive income will set you free; however, working a job is the glue to your life. It ensures you can eat well and sleep comfortably while building passive income.
Homeschooling + Online Business: The Stay-At-Home Parents’ Ultimate Dream
The shift in social media. Social media is a powerful influence, especially on younger generations. Influencers love to act like they don’t work hard, and money keeps flowing into their accounts.
However, YouTube and Instagram require much more dedication than working 40 hours a week. I work 40 hours on my book business and a full-time job.
Working a typical job is okay because it can get you to your final destination. Think of your career as one pitstop on a cross-country destination.
Conclusion. I hate to watch so many young people seek answers in a world without questions. There is no right or wrong answer; you must wake up every day to be a better person.
Individual Preferred Shares vs. Preferred Funds
Your job will not make you happy, nor was that ever the intention. Retiring early with a spouse and kids will make you happy.
Traveling the world on passive income, spending time with your grandkids, and becoming a food connoisseur will make you happy.
These things all require passive income, and passive income requires work. Thus, it stands to reason that you need to work. Good Luck!
