Review & Content Business

Start a Review & Content Business toward Passive Income

Do you love to learn and try new things? If so, perhaps it is time to start a business around your ability to keep learning and self-educating yourself.

Most people do not pursue self-education but will follow people who keep learning. This puts you in a great position to do what you love while earning passive income.

What is a review & content business? You have seen review sites for the latest iPhone or Galaxy laptop, correct?

Mother’s Happy Cash Flow Retirement

There are also review sites for video games, books, and products. However, a review & content business takes the idea one step further.

Once you review something, you want to create content about how the product or service integrates into your life.

The idea is to keep your review relevant by continually using the product or service. This gives you credibility while keeping the product “top of mind.”

Starting a review & content business. I consider my website a review & content business. I began by reading 30+ books on financial mindset, investing, retirement planning, cryptocurrencies, real estate, and business.

Struggle-Mania: 12 Reasons You Love Being Broke

I then used all of my gained knowledge to progress in these areas. Implementing different strategies made my references to certain books more powerful.

Today, I have 142 book reviews on the site and am starting to review Udemy online courses. I continue to learn and push the envelope in my own life.

An example of publishing content. I never knew what preferred shares were on the stock market. I stumbled across a book reference on Seeking Alpha titled “The Billionaires’ Secret.

I read the book and began investing in preferred shares. Over the last two years, I have acquired over $10,000 in preferred shares.

More importantly, I have written many articles and books covering preferred shares, including:

  1. Preferred Shares vs. Closed-End Funds
  2. Preferred Shares vs. Treasury Bonds
  3. Individual Preferred Shares vs. Preferred Funds

These books sell decently on Amazon. It all started with my review of the “Billionaires’ Secret” in 2020.

Why is writing review content an excellent place to start? The best part of a review & content site is its low risk. You are leveraging the passive income potential of affiliate marketing to build a content business.

Instead of spending massive amounts of time writing a cookbook from scratch, you can leverage someone else’s popular cookbook.

You can go to Amazon and find a best-selling cookbook. You can write a review for it, but also keep making content around the cookbook.

For example, you can make every recipe in the cookbook or cater a wedding with the food. You can keep making organic, fresh content while referencing your review and the affiliate links.

How to create meaningful content. You love to learn, which is a fantastic skill in its own right. However, it’ll take time to produce meaningful content for your audience.

Content follows the Pareto Principle or 80/20 rule. 80% of your success will come from 20% of your content.

Dividends vs. Social Security

However, that doesn’t mean you should only focus on the top 20% of content. Let’s take my business, for example.

My best-selling content comes from stocks, bonds, and dividends—easily beating the other topics. But, I cannot just become a stocks and bonds writer.

I still write about financial mindset, real estate, retirement, royalties, and business because together, they form my complete life package.

My meaningful content brings these random topics under one roof so people can pollinate into different subjects.

Getting started with your reviews content business. What is the best way to create anything? Jump in and get started.

Open your website as soon as possible. It takes time for Google to index your site and content, so the faster you get reviews up, the quicker the process.

I write about my content philosophy in “How to Create a Never-Ending Stream of Content.” In short, divide your main niche into six sub-niches.

Let’s start a review & content business on massage. Our six topics will be in-home massage, local massage, self-massage, how to learn massage, partner massage, and massage products.

We can review books, local services, online courses, and products for each topic. And then, we can start making awesome content.

Retirement Plus: Use Royalties to Supplement Your Retirement

The best book on creating unique content is “How to Take Smart Notes.” It tells us that by combining various seemingly random content, we can create a never-ending stream of content.

That’s how I can write articles like “Rental Income vs. Income Investing” and “From Dirt to Dividends.

Start your review & content business by writing or recording simple product reviews across your six sub-niches. You’ll begin to merge concepts and ideas over time, I promise.

Before you know it, you’ll have the most original content on the web while still serving tons of affiliate links for passive income.

Build Your Rep: Create Your Body of Work

The curse of affiliate marketing. Sadly, affiliate marketing can lead to stale content. Many people think affiliate marketing is a get-rich-quick scheme, and they push out subpar content.

You’ll need to write helpful reviews to have people support you. Even better, your original content needs to be vastly different from the rest.

As much as I love writing about dividend investing, I can add other elements to my dividend articles, like marriage, renting rooms, and creating royalties. This makes my content different from pure dividend content creators.

Tiny Dividends: Can You Retire on Index Fund Dividends?

Conclusion. As you learn the game, you can review higher-ticket items. I recently received a $50 commission from Fundrise (affiliate) from someone who read my article “Fundrise vs. US Treasuries.

Once your audience knows, likes, and trusts you, you can refer them to better items you use. You can show you are using these items by making content around them.

0 to 38: Retire by Age 38 in Ten Steps

In my Fundrise article, I showed my $10,000 Fundrise account that I have used since September 2019.

I only push the content of products and services I use (like affiliates M1 Finance, STASH, and Cash App) because it is authentic.

If you see a huge-ticket affiliate program, start using the product. Write reviews and create content around your products. Eventually, you can create your own products and services. Good Luck!
