Becoming a writer is one of the most empowering things you can do in your life. Writing is demanding because you must articulate your thoughts and convey them so others can understand.
Many people fear writing because of nightmares from high school or college. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart.
But if you have the fortitude to put yourself out there, you have come to the right place. I have been a writer for 2.5 years and have enjoyed every minute.

I focus on shorter books because most books should be direct and to the point. I would rather read five short books than one long book.
The art of writing. Most people overthink the writing process. To become a writer, you must write. There is no magical organization or membership to join; you simply wake up and start writing.
If you want to write a book in a week, you will need to practice writing. I write 1,000 words every day to keep my skills sharp.
I can now write 1,000 words in roughly 45 minutes. I then take a break and come back to edit my piece later.

It will take you longer to pump out 1,000 words when you start writing. As writers, we all settle into a unique style that we love—comfort writing.
You will know your style as you read other people’s work. You will start to compare and contrast words, sentence structure, and punctuation you would use instead of theirs.

You will need to keep your “content well” full of information, comparisons, data, and emotions. These are the things we use to create content daily.
If you are a fiction writer, you must decide if you are a plotter or a pantser. This means if you like to create a structure or write blind (fly by the seat of your pants). Joanna Penn writes excellent guidebooks about writing fiction. Here are some of the books I have read:

One book, one week. So what’s the process of writing a book in one week? I like to write ten chapters of one thousand words each. This will total 10,000 words or roughly 45-50 ebook pages.

A fifty-page book is a perfect length for readers today. Most people will not finish a 300-page book, but perhaps a 50-page book is more up their alley.
I just finished an 11-chapter book in 11 days. It is called “Middle-Class Investing Complete.” I wrote a chapter each day.

I enjoy writing because I can have it my way. I use Grammarly to edit my words and then proofread them several times.

However, I have been writing much more than most people. Therefore, I can catch certain things quickly.
When I started writing, I had an issue with passive voice. However, over time and with lots of practice, you’ll begin to catch your errors long before Grammarly.
You must “put in the reps” if you want to “write to market” quickly. You must also form strong habits and powerful routines to write for speed and accuracy.
The habit of writing. I wake up every day at midnight to complete producing my book. Then I upload my ebook to Amazon, publish it to my website, post it on my Facebook group, upload it to Pinterest, and create a paperback; then, I write another article.

For example, I am writing this at 1:59 AM on a Monday. I love writing in the middle of the night because it is eerily quiet.
Even if you have kids (which I do), you can guarantee yourself a couple of quiet hours by having an extreme schedule.
Is it healthy to wake up in the middle of the night? Probably not, but I currently have a full-time job. So I have to do what I have to do.
Your habits are what make you a writer. If you call yourself a writer, you must write—no excuses.

Conclusion. Seth Godin’s book “The Practice” helped me become a writer. Writing is an art form, but it is also a job and a skill set.
You must treat it like a job to become good at it. If you want to dabble in writing, don’t expect to write for speed. You can’t just write when you are in the mood.
I can only write 1,000 words a day because of my schedule. I trained my body and mind to wind down after reaching 1,000 or 1,100 words.
To write more, say 2,000 words, I would need to grow this skill set. Writing is the most challenging of the three R’s (reading, writing, arithmetic).

To consider yourself a writer is a big deal with a big responsibility. You must put your articles and books out there.
In summary, to write a book in a week, you must consume a lot of content, plan (plot or pants), and form a great habit of writing.
Artificial intelligence is becoming more robust, and weak writers are flocking to it in droves. However, human creativity and imagination will reign supreme. But you must flex these muscles every day to beat the robots. Good Luck, Writer!
