I read about passive income while on a trip to Turkey with my wife in 2019. Immediately, I knew I wanted to live overseas while using passive income from royalties, rents, and dividends.
I became obsessed with tracking my passive income progress to the point that I thought something was wrong with me. All I could think about was money.
It didn’t make sense until late 2020 when I read the book “Be Obsessed or Be Average” by Grant Cardone.
The Core Values of Passion Income
Your obsession helps you achieve your mission. After reading this book, I realized that the world brainwashes you into underachieving. They use words like work-life balance, toxic workplace, and mental health.
However, the only way to achieve your life’s purpose is to become obsessed. You have to think about your goals every day and almost every hour.
Don’t worry; you can still lead a normal life because your passion will only affect your time. You see, we all have personal time where we do unique things. Part of becoming obsessed is optimizing this time to build our dream.

Let’s take a quick detour. Before we discuss how to use our time wisely, let’s go back to obsession and the workplace. I wrote some articles about some recent buzzwords like “Quiet Quitting,” “The Great Resignation,” and “Quiet Quitting vs. The Great Resignation.”
These movements became prominent because people falsely believed that their work should become their obsession.
You are sadly mistaken if you think your company is loyal to you. However, your job is a means to an end; you’ll just need to find the light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s hard to find your true passion in your younger body. It takes time, experience, and wisdom to learn YOUR true purpose and passion in life.
In the meantime, everyone still needs money to exist in this world (unless you become a monk). So, I don’t believe in these movements because the media sells them to the public. They can be dangerous to young people who still need to build their resources to start a family.
Family and relationships are essential. The true answer to your purpose is family and relationships. Relationships are the most challenging thing to build but also the most valuable.
Once you realize this, you can start building your dream around your future family’s needs. Do you want to enroll your kids in private school and pay for college?

Do you want to homeschool your grandkids or create a dividend growth portfolio for your children? Do you want to start a scholarship program at your former high school?
These are extraordinary accomplishments that will require you to become obsessed. There is no other way to achieve these big goals while lounging on the couch, sleeping late, and eating fast food.
How does being extreme look? Time management is vital to being extreme toward your dream—I am trying these words at 2:42 AM.
Every day I wake up and create a book, write an article, and run three miles. I do more before 6 AM than most people achieve in a week.

My obsession is to set my family free via passive income. In June 2019, we earned $1,000 in passive income; in September 2022, we earned $3,400.
I will keep building my passive income streams until these numbers are utterly ridiculous. It’s my passion, dream, obsession, and purpose—it wakes me up every morning.
What motivates you? The sooner you find your true passion, calling, or motivation, the faster you can start performing actual work. Your job helps you pay the bills and keep the lights on—nothing more, nothing less.
Even if you choose the wrong passion, it all works in your favor. Everything you do in life is a teaching moment, so going in the wrong direction can give you the right answers.
How to Thrive in the Gig Economy
My wife and I learned that we don’t like watching baseball at the stadium but love watching hockey. You may believe you want to start a nonprofit to help abandoned dogs.
However, along the way, you may find out that you want to start a dog-walking service for the elderly. The important thing is that you keep moving forward in life.
Keep on moving; never stop. The most difficult part of living in America is tuning out your programming. America wants you to slow down, spend money, and relax with the rest of us.
Why work toward your dream when you can buy an RV, have a 4th of July BBQ, and watch the latest football game on a 90-inch TV?

As you work toward your passion, almost everyone you deal with will tell you to slow down. They will say you need balance and you are overworking yourself.
You may work toward being a senior manager at your job because the pay will allow you to save for your dog-walking business.
So you can play the game at work, kiss the right rear-ends, and send all the valid emails. Your friends will call you names to make you feel low; however, you are climbing the ladder for a reason.
Starting a dog-walking business will take loads of money, and your job will keep you from taking on debt. That’s why we need a job, to facilitate our REAL dreams.

People who are resigning and quiet quitting lack their true purpose in life. Words like “work-life balance” sound great until you understand that you need an “actual” life.
Quitting your job to sit on the couch and drink Starbucks isn’t life. I grew up poor, so my passion is to ensure all my future generations have the resources to choose their lives.
Conclusion. Sadly, the new programming is telling young people to slow down. There has never been a better time to front-load your life with work.

It’s entirely possible to become financially independent by age 30. Then, you can spend the next 60 years helping others how you see fit.
If you are obsessed enough, you can change the direction of the world. You may only help 1,000 people, but that is far more than most people.
Sitting in your cubicle for 40 years isn’t helping anyone, to include yourself. You’ll need to discover your true purpose in this life, which is the key to building your dream.
The best way to find your passion is by creating content. What do you like to read or discuss? What do you study all night because you can’t get enough information? That’s your calling, and you’ll need it to grow your dream. Good Luck!
