I think I have always talked to myself; however, now it’s a full-blown “thing.” I was looking through the refrigerator yesterday and talking near my wife.
I was going on about reducing my sugar intake, and she asked what I said. I replied that I was talking to myself. She said she noticed I talk to myself a lot more now.
The backstory. I just returned from a two-year unaccompanied tour in Japan, where I lived in a barracks room alone. My journey as a content creator and entrepreneur began in that room.
The Magic of Being a Content Creator
Along the way, I became an avid believer in talking to myself. I have never read a book about “talking to yourself” as a factor in success; therefore, I will say it now.
Often in life, you will be the only person who will believe in you. You are your worst enemy and best friend. You can be the only person to tell yourself to get it into motion.
The road to success is very lonely, but at least you have yourself. I find that as I explore new ideas and concepts, the only person to share them with truly is me.
When I talk to myself the most. I have compiled a list of when I talk to myself the most and what I achieve from these conversations. If you are not a self-talker, don’t start because of me.
Self-Storage vs. Mobile Home vs. RV Park 2
However, if everyone says you are weird because you talk to yourself, I wrote this article for you. As remote work and the Metaverse become more prominent parts of our lives, expect the number of self-talkers to grow. Here is my list:
- Reading a Book
- Watching YouTube
- Reading articles
- Running
- Grinding
- Making Decisions
Reading a book. I am a massive fan of reading books. Everyone should read a book for at least 30 minutes a day. The book “Limitless” praises the art of reading and says it is the gateway to true comprehension.
I have had more ideas occur when reading than at any other time. Specifically, I remember when reading “Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing,” when Robert Kiyosaki asked how to build an asset from thin air without paying money.
Real Estate in the Metaverse
I was stumped and kept talking to myself to answer the question. I couldn’t think of the answer because my mindset was still that of an employee. He said the answer was, “you create it!”
At that moment, I became enamored with creating assets from thin air. This is where my love of producing books originates. Every day I make an asset from thin air, just like Robert Kiyosaki taught me. I always remember that conversation with myself as a turning point in my life.
Watching YouTube. My favorite medium outside of reading is YouTube. Here you get to follow people who have a similar mindset to you.
YouTube is a powerful tool that can help you become great or destroy you (by wasting time). When my favorite YouTubers comment on things I agree with, I always talk and laugh with them—we may as well be in the same room.
Roth IRAs vs. Municipal Bonds
Reading articles. I spend most of my time outside of books on Seeking Alpha. I always start with Rida Morwa. As I read his daily piece on income investing, it gives me the motivation to write more articles.
While becoming successful, you also have to refill your tank with motivation. You don’t just get a lifetime of encouragement from the start. Reading consistent writers, and talking along with them, helps me jump into my daily grind (more on that later).
Running. I run every day. I don’t run with headphones or music playing. I love to be alone with my thoughts and bathe in nature’s beauty.
I am also talking, cussing, and pushing myself out loud on my run. There is no better time to converse with yourself than on the run. I also have many great ideas while running, but sometimes they disappear before I can write them down. I guess I’ll have to try again tomorrow.

Grinding. My favorite time to talk to myself is as I kick myself on my daily passive income grind. There is nothing in this world like grinding. It is pure heaven to sit down with a purpose and get up only when you achieve the mission.
I like to write with no outside sound around. While editing, publishing, and creating book covers, I always have YouTube blasting in the background.
I love listening to (watching) YouTubers who are also grinding. My favorite is video game YouTubers playing a game for hours on end, sometimes for 6-8 hours straight. I love to see fellow content creators on the grind.
I get the most enjoyment from talking to myself and grinding with YouTubers. Not many people understand the feeling of working hard on something when you aren’t receiving a guaranteed paycheck.
How to Thrive in a Gig Economy
Most people only grind for an hour’s wage or salary. Their boss tells them what to grind and for how long. Your passive income grind is 100% on you, and you’ll be the only person going through your journey.
I tend to get “a high” as I grind away—this is called “a flow state.” Time fades away, and you finish a project but don’t remember how you created it. I love mumbling to myself during this time; it is pure magic.
Making decisions. Finally, I always talk through my decisions with myself first. I usually speak through them inside my head and then talk with myself in the shower.
I don’t make an appointment with myself for the shower; it tends to happen naturally. Having a back-and-forth with myself is good before I open the idea up to someone else.
Inflation vs. Passive Income 2
Of course, the other person is my wife of 16 years. She is the closest to having a person living in my head possible. It’s incredible to have someone who knows you “almost” as good as yourself. Between myself and her, I make pretty good decisions (with some bad ones sprinkled in for fun).
Conclusion. I wrote this because many people think they are crazy for talking to themselves. For me, it is an effective way to stay on the path to success.
If you are waiting for someone to talk with you about your success, you may as well stop. Most people cannot even make themselves successful, let alone someone else.
What Type of Home Business Should You Start 3: Online
I use talking to myself as a way to continue the motivation and dedication required to grind for hours every day. As an entrepreneur, family man, real estate tycoon, and content creator, I always have a lot on my mind.
I talk to myself to ensure I pay the bills, manage the homes, create my content, and remember the family—all in a day’s work. Talking to myself helps me sort through these different hats to keep me moving forward.
If you naturally talk to yourself, don’t shy away from it. I’m not saying to start a one-person conversation at the vet’s office, but use it to your advantage.
The more successful you become, the more you have going on in your life. Talking to yourself helps alleviate some pressure by allowing you to identify and prioritize your current mission. Good Luck!
