5 Takeaways from “Wedding Hacks”

Wedding Hacks” by Maddie Eisenhart gives us 540 wedding tips to reduce our costs and prevent drama. Everyone preparing for a wedding should read this book because there is solid guidance inside.

I am doing a deep dive into why Americans are broke. Weddings are a massive part of the equation, so reducing these expenses are vital. This is especially important because weddings start a (hopefully) long marriage where you’ll need every available penny.

The author wrote in number order; thus, you can easily bookmark the tips you want to reference later. That’s how I picked some of my favorite tips. I will discuss my top five tips below.

1) Create a checking account and debit card just for your wedding. This prevents you from tapping into an “endless” amount of funds.

2) Plan a Pop-Up wedding. I had never heard of a pop-up wedding before reading this book. It seems like an excellent way for a quick, beautiful wedding—it also sounds fun.

3) Getting married in the off-season of the venue can save you big bucks. You can also get married on a weekday like Tuesday or Wednesday to save even more.

4) Have a wedding in a school gym. It would be like a prom. To me, that sounds pretty cool, maybe not for you.

5) Skip the open bar. You don’t have to pay for everyone to get drunk. In fact, you don’t need to have alcohol at all.

And there are 535 more tips just like these. This book is an all-in-one guide to weddings and gets you thinking about unorthodox ideas.

The author also gives ways to ensure your wedding is inclusive, which helps if you are not hip to the new terms and scenarios. Overall, a fantastic book for those planning weddings for themselves or their children.
