The internet age is a fantastic time to live through. Information flows like water, and all we have to do is have a cell phone or internet connection to access it all. But, with all this information comes overload.
The media constantly bombards people by telling them what to do and how to do it. How do they have clarity during this busy time? That’s what you, the content creator, are there to provide.
Becoming a content creator is no easy feat, especially in today’s content-overloaded world. But, that’s not to say that the world is over-saturated and not able to accept what you bring. In fact, this is the best time to create your brand.
Life is Not a Game
Why is this the best time? All you have to do is produce quality content for 3-5 years straight, and you’ll be a successful creator. Yes, I said 3-5 years. And yes, I said quality content.
I say 3-5 years because it takes 10,000 hours to become great at anything. For anyone to consistently watch you, you’ll need to become great. But, you’ll be surprised at how natural your content starts to flow out of you over time.
I am in the first year of my content journey, and I just absolutely love the process. I learn something every day, and I have to keep creating content to fill holes on my platform.
For instance, yesterday, I wrote an article called “Renovate & Rent VS. Fix & Flip.” In the article, I referred to the four top professionals you will work with as a real estate investor: general contractor, real estate agent, property manager, and lender.
I have read books and written articles about all of these professionals except for a general contractor. Once I saw this hole in my content, I ordered a book about being a general contractor. I’ll read it, then produce content about this profession.
What Type of Home Business Should You Start?
You’ll constantly discover situations like this as you create more and more content. If you are serious, you’ll quickly have a never-ending stream of content to produce.
Why do I need so much content? The only way to gain traction is by releasing a lot of content. If you think releasing one book is going to set the world on fire—it’s not. When you release your creative works into the world, you’ll have no idea how the world will react.
The world’s reaction will differ from what you expect. Nobody Owes You Anything. People do not have to like the works that you think they do, nor do they need to buy from you “just because.”
By creating a lot of quality content, you are allowing the world to choose which of your works they love the most. The book “The Compound Effect” explains it best. Every video, every text, every article is compounding into the world. The more you release, the bigger the chance that someone finds and loves you.
Blogging to Financial Independence
In time, they’ll love you. As you keep stockpiling content, you’ll slowly build an audience. You’ll learn a lot about what people need or want by interacting with your small audience.
I write a lot about retirement planning, dividends, royalties, automated business, and cryptocurrencies. By far, my articles and books about dividends perform the best. Most people have access to a brokerage account and can create a dividend portfolio.
Following dividends, retirement planning is my next most followed topic. So, why do I keep writing about everything else? Because I know that one percent of the people will understand the total concept of a cash flow retirement system.
I am writing my content for that one percent of people that truly understand the complexity of a diversified retirement system. People that understand having crypto, dividends, Roth IRA, pension, automated business, royalties, and real estate will lead to a great retirement and generational wealth.
I read the book “Superfans” early in my reading career. The book explains that you really only need 1,000 Superfans to be genuinely successful. All others will be “fair-weather” fans who buy a book or watch your videos. You don’t need to appeal to everyone. When you attempt to appeal to everyone, you’ll appeal to no one.
Superfans equals cash flow. Most people will consume your media and move on—that’s life. But, your Superfans will consume all of your past content and future content. As you are creating all types of content, you’ll slowly build an audience. Inside that audience, you’ll have the opportunity to produce a Superfan.
Can Grammarly Make You a Better Writer?
I may have readers that only like my dividend or royalty content or my coverage of retirement. But my Superfans are reading all 630+ of my articles and waiting for my next book release.
When someone reaches the stage of becoming a Superfan, they will want to have all of your content ready for consumption. Then bam! You’ll have cash flow. An entrepreneur only makes money by creating value.
You have to allow your Superfans to dive deeper into your content. To do this, you’ll need to produce content every day. That’s the only way to win in this overloaded world. Don’t get it twisted; you don’t need a new “product” every day. However, you’ll need to produce, edit, create, record, script, etc., every day.
Like going to the gym, running, dieting, etc., your daily routines will make or break your success and determine if you achieve your goals. What are your dreams anyway?
Welcome to Stress Freedom
Why did you become a content creator? This world is not for the faint of heart or half-dedicated individuals who just want the praise. You’ll be on your grind for a long time, and during that time, nobody cares about your content. Every subscriber, email list member, and the reader is someone you’ll have to earn. Are you ready for this kind of pressure?
The money is there! The money is there, but it may be a few years off. Can you handle releasing content to an empty stadium? Do you need immediate feedback and love from your tiny audience? If so, you might be preparing yourself for a huge disappointment.
The best thing to do is find something you love writing or talking about, and keep writing and talking about that topic. You’ll never consider this a job or career; it’ll be a part of your daily process.
Nobody said becoming a content creator would be easy, so prepare yourself mentally. However, as you look back at all the unique content you have created, you won’t regret one minute of the journey.
While others are busy being busy, you are adding value to the world. And, in time, you will be handsomely rewarded with fans, a platform, an audience, and sweet, sweet royalties!
