Scale

5 Takeaways from “Scale”

Scale: A Successful Agent’s Guide to Leveling Up a Real Estate Business” by David Greene is book three in the Top-Producing Real Estate Agent Series.

Luckily, I have finished all three books in the series (Sold, Skill). At its heart, Scale is a leadership manual.

You can use this book for any profession where you go from the producer to the CEO. It’s hard to let someone assume your money-making roles, but you have higher-level things that need your attention.

1) Push yourself past the top-producing agent. When you achieve great things, you will have to push yourself even harder because complacency can occur.

2) There is a difference between leadership and management. Management refers to systems and controls you implement to run an organization. Leadership is about people and guiding them to achieve a mission (at a high level).

3) When creating a team, focus on people who cover your weaknesses. Don’t just hire people who are the same as you. For example, on my blog, I am not good at SEO; therefore, I would need to hire someone to help me in that region.

4) The reason you build a team is so that you can focus on high-level money-making tasks. In real estate, you must focus on generating leads.

5) Find a business niche. Even inside real estate sales, you should have a niche. For example, you can focus on commercial real estate, first-time home buyers, or investors.

Most people will never build a team or run a business. However, this book is still valuable to everyone.

At the very least, people can understand how their leaders run their organization. You can even become a more prominent contributor when armed with this information.

Many of this book’s leadership and management systems reflect my guidance inside the Marine Corps.

This book is a massive guide to leading and managing a team. Don’t overly focus on the real estate aspect because it applies across all businesses and teams. It is truly a fantastic read.
