My son and I created a college life/hack

Today, Our family drove to a nearby Tangiers Outlet. My son and his friend (both 14 years old) started talking about going to a local 4-year university here in town. The friend was adamant about staying in the dorms. He said there was great food, sports facilities, and big rooms. It sounded pretty cool from what he was saying. But I came up with a better plan.

I threw out the idea that the two kids could rent out our second house from me. The house is 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 1660 sq ft. It has a decent-sized yard and driveway plus it has a two-car garage. They both got very excited. Most college kids don’t get to live in their own house. I pay $1100 a month for rent but I said I would charge them only $800, so that would be $400 each. That is an amazing deal for the young lads.

But then we got together and created an even better plan. They decided that they could rent out the master suite, for at least $900. That way they only had to pay $100 out of pocket each. They said that they would even consider renting out the 4th bedroom for $600. That would pay for all the bills of the house. They would be living for free. Of course, the house would be a zest pool with 4 college kids in there, but it would be an amazing adventure for the kids. Best of all, we keep all the money in the family. That is the way to do it.

I love how the kids were so open to this idea. It means that all the techniques and life hacks I am teaching them are starting to pay off. This grand scheme may not come to fruition but it proves that working together, we can achieve anything we want. No one can get in our way. We are unstoppable as a family!
