Kris is the love of my life! We met back in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2004. I was working at the US Embassy as a Marine Security Guard. We meet out in town and within a week or so, I was totally in love with her. She spoke absolutely no English when we met.
After dating for a year, I was assigned to the US Embassy in Helsinki, Finland. Kris wasn’t allowed to go, so I went there alone. It was there I decided I was going to ask her to get married. We married in Helsinki, Finland in 2006. Also, the day we were married, we found out that Kris was pregnant with our firstborn.
To make matters even better, I was assigned to Okinawa, Japan on a two-year unaccompanied tour. Meaning that Kris (pregnant) would not be able to go with me to Japan for the 2-year tour. Luckily, my Mom is a great woman. She helped Kris and me during this difficult time of transition. On November 4, 2006, our firstborn, Dan, was born. There is more to our stories, so stay tuned.
