Read books. Yes, you have to read. People change during a marriage. Goals are modified or changed. Reading books on relationships can help you understand each other. My favorite book is “His Needs, Her Needs”. It really helped me understand the things my wife was saying.
Your spouse is the most important part of your life. As long as you are on the same page, you will be successful. If investing is important to you, help the other person understand that. We all have different views of the American Dream. As we grow and achieve more, your view on spending, saving, and retirement may be different. Get on the same page. Talk constantly.
Love one another. The most important financial decision you will ever make is decided who you will marry, make it wisely. Understand that money is a means to an end. Money creates opportunities and options. It also allows for a more stress-free life. Once the couple understands this, the focus should be on creating wealth in order to have a better life. Not buying bigger and better “things”.
